The Drop-In project seeks to engage with
some of the most vulnerable members of
our community and provide a safe place of
acceptance for each person who drops in.
There is no ‘one kind of person’ we cater for;
rough sleepers, lonely individuals, socially
isolated, old friends and even local community
members who pop by on a whim. The Drop-In
communicates the gospel in a very practical
way through sharing a snack together,
conversations and friendships.

Firm Friendships

One thing that the drop-in is particularly keen for is good strong friendships; between volunteers and visitors alike. Recently close friends have fallen out. Please pray that all those involved resolve their conflicts and that unity among volunteers remains strong. It is important for volunteers to remain impartial and be an ear to the people we serve.

The Guy that went into rehab several months ago has finished his treatment and awaits his next session, this will perhaps be a more difficult period for him so please pray for his safety and his health.

Free Pasties

Just recently we were out visiting the local businesses in Chester offering prayer. One of the bakeries offered to give us their unsold food so each week, we take this down to the the soup kitchen that we support to give to the homeless - great.

A friend in need

One of the guys that we see often in the street has recently asked for prayer - after many attempts to kick bad habits he has finally got a place in rehab and arranged housing aftrewards. Often people come straight out of rehab and go back to their old haunts and start back at square one. Hold this guy in your prayers, we will be praying for him and visiting him as he goes.

Keep these wonderful people in your prayers. Each week, Tim from All Saints and his wife run a lunch drop-in providing a meal and place to stop on Wednesdays. They are helped out by Pauline, Glenys , Fred and Cat who is one of our 2nd year FdA students.

A coincidence

A while back Geoff from the Light Project went out to get some bread. I took it out to the street and offered it to a guy on the streets called Chad. He was stunned. He and his friend had just been saying how they had some stuff and would love to have some bread. They found the coincidence remarkable. I saw Chad this week out on the street - "hey remember that bread he said, wasn't that mad? Loads of mad things happened that day" he said. Chad is in my prayers and God is with him.

I met Sonny today. He's just out of prison and i haven't seen him for a while. I got him a cup of tea and he showed me his rosary which helps him to pray. Keep this lovely guy in your prayers if you read this.

Hazel

A lady came to see us at the Light Project yesterday and Andi, sat and chatted with her over a cuppa - he does that kind of thing. Today she came back and Bekki and I took her out for some coffee in a local cafe - 2 peole have recently pledges a pound a wk so we can take peoeple out like that. She said it was strange going into a cafe, she normally gets asked to leave them. We sat and chated for a while. If you read this pray for Hazel - she needs God, she needs people.

christmas Spirit

Got a card to day from someone who we helped out who was homeless. He enclosed some money, said thanks and wrote "While people are celebrating the Christmas Spirit, you are living it."

Pete and the sandwich

Bekki and I went out to take a sandwich to someone today. We listened to a girl for a while who feels harassed and we gave a sandwich to a guy called Pete - if you read this, pray for Pete and his friend Kev who is in hospital. Say a prayer for all those working at the day centre in Chester who give a superb welcome.

a bag of chips

Had the chance to share my bag of chips with two lads on the streets of Chester tonight. 'The Light Project', they said, 'Oh, I know that, it's where that girl who bought us that sandwich came from'.

Sandwich run

We've started a sandwich run this week - making up some sandwiches and taking them out to those on the streets and a flask as winter sets in. Keep us in your prayers and if you have any good gear, clothes that is, then give us a call 07983 332 987

Update on my friend Sean

Sean is still in the car but now has a job which in my books is an answer to prayer. Pray that he might find a place to live and good people around him.

The body in evangelism

Walking back from chapel today four students stumbled upon a guy sat in the alley. He was upset. They chatted and listened to his story. One offered the chance to pray, one shed a tear with him and another told him about a day centre and a place to get some food. the body of Christ in operation

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.

Sean

On my way home a few weeks back I bumped into a guy called Sean. A nice guy who has hit a bit of a rough time and was sleeping in his car. I've been able to help him out with food and petrol and some equipment and share my faith and hope freely with Sean. He went to church last week for the first time in 30 years and said it was nice to feel peace - keep Sean in your prayers as he looks for a job and a home in Chester.

Tim Dann who runs a weekly drop-in for all. Each week they provide a meal, advice, clothing and someone to talk with.

Last week I was cycling past the canal and I stopped to chat to a guy who was was sat there. He told me when things get tough he pulls out a little book and he showed me a worn pocket gospel in his back pocket - he said this gives me hope. I asked him where he'd got it. Tim Dann, he answered.
